IBM RS6000 SP system is IBM's parallel computing solution, providing state-of-the-art parallel computing.

The SP system is made up of independent systems running AIX, controlled via a single system (controlling workstation) running AIX and the Parallell System Support Program (PSSP) code. The PSSP code allows you to comminicate directly to the hardware through the frame and node supervisor cards as well as performing administrative commands in parallel. The SP also has the option for a high-speed switch to communicate between nodes and other SP attached servers.
